Hii.
If you remember, I wrote a post on the unit about learning with other classes around the world. Now, we have to write about our selves and things about where we live. So, here it is.
My name is Mary. I really like to go swimming in the summer, and I really dislike the snow. Where I live, there is around 700-1000 people living here. That is not a lot. When I first moved here, in grade two, there were a lot of children my age, so I made a lot of friends. The population has shrunk since then, due to a shutdown of a mine. That happened around 2004-2005. Now there is only around 160-170 kids in the school. In the winter, there is a lot of snow. It can get way to cold, so that gives me a bad mood. With all the snow, people here can go ski-dooing or sledding. Hockey and figure skating are also something that people do here. My sister is a very good figure skater and she travels out of town for tests and competitions. My brother enjoys playing hockey. He, too is good at that sport. There is a little hockey team here and they are pretty good at it. Well, that is all for my introduction, here are my concerns.
The world is such a harmful place, but what are my worst worries? Well, I worry about teenagers who smoke or drink or do drugs. They don’t think it is harmful, but haven’t they heard? It kills. If you get too addicted to smoking then you smoke all the time and it can give you lung cancer and it will kill you. Drugs, what’s so good about that? It will kill your brain cells and it can harm you in anyway. Drinking is also another type of drugs. The alcohol in it can make you sick, and if you drive while drunk, you can get caught or you can get in a car crash, but teenagers still do it.
I think that sex is another concern in Canada for the youth. Teenagers think that it is fun and it won’t harm them. But what happens if you don’t use a condom? Many things can happen. You can get a disease or you can get pregnant. Getting pregnant at a young age can be tough. If you decide to keep the child, maybe your parents won’t help you with the child and you have to quit school just to take care of him/her. Or you might pick to get an abortion, which is up to you. And the last option is having it, but putting it up for adoption. You can also say if you want to see him/ her only on holidays or you want to take him/her when you are older. There are many different options, but wouldn’t it be better to just wait, until you are older?
My last concern for the youth in Canada is global warming. This can affect everyone and everything. Global warming is really dangerous, but with the rate that the people are going at, there is a most likely chance that the youth in Canada are going to be living with global warming all of their lives. When we throw garbage on the ground, we are creating a little more global warming, when we chose to drive to work or school, we create a little more global warming. But it won’t matter. It seems no one really cares if the world is getting polluted. Global warming is creating tragedies. For example, there is said to be more earthquakes and tornadoes and other dangerous, unexpected tragedies.
Well, that is all about me and my concerns. What do you think about them? How do you feel about these things?
Bye!

hi, my name is Maria Angelica. I study in a school called Jorge Washington. I saw your blog and I love it!! I think all you said about teenagers is completely right, I completely agree with you, they ruin their lifes doing that don’t you think? Well, I hope we get to meet!!
Your blog is great, keep up your work :)!
January 22, 2007 @ 7:03 amI think you suched have sex if you can get pregnant and condom. In colombia abortion is legal but only in rape there going to change it for any but if they think it a gain they will turn it inlegal.
January 22, 2007 @ 7:08 amHi ashley, Well I am also concerned about guys and girls who smoke or drink or do drugs. This is affecting every day people and the world. Here in Colombia the Guerrilla wich is a terrorism group are treating kids as a transportation for drugs. This is so bad. This is also making little kids to do drugs. Here teenagers are drinking alot of alcohol because of group pressure and because they want to but they dont realize that it is bad. they also smoke but for them smoking is not weird for them. I think someking should be ellegal because it is hurting the atmosphere and aso the people that do it.
January 22, 2007 @ 7:21 amHey Ashley its me, Stephanie from Mr. Hide’s classroom. I really like you thoughts for all that topic of sex. I think you had think really deep about this issue. But, My question is, why teenages just put a condom? Like, I think is such an easy thing to do, for me. But oh well, teenages just don’t think in the future, and what bad experiences they will have, such as WIH, etc., by not doing one simple thing. But don’t you think people besides having a condom, do the VIH test? That is another important thing people should do. Well, see ya later!

come visit my blog.
Hey Ashey,
January 28, 2007 @ 11:40 amI am from Cartagena Colombia and I am in Mr Hide’s Class. In Cartagena, is hot all year, I wish there was snow here. I am also concerned about smoking and drugs. I think this things are caused by peer pressure. Smoking not only affects the person who is smoking, but also the people around you, this is so because of second hand smoking, it has many dangerous effects. Your post was really interesting if you want to comment on my blog, go ahead its:; isa27.blogspot.com..
Bye,

January 30, 2007 @ 4:00 amThanks for the compliment for my question. you have writen many issues for teenagers and i agree with them. here i can go swim everyday whenevr i want to cuz its always summer and hot here. i hate the weather in malaysia. i like winter. making frends are really good. i like my friends and they are really cool. anyway bye and nice work. Steve
Hi Ashley. I’m Ann Nee and I’m from Mr Raisdana’s classroom. You commented on my post so I should commment on your post in return. I agree on what you said about teenagers who smoke or do drugs. It’s super dangerous and can shorten their life expectancy. However, you said that drinking alcohol is bad. I half agree and half disagree. This is because you didn’t specify how much they drink. Did you know, drinking a glass of alcohol one a day actually helps your body especially in cold countries like Canada. The alcohol helps circulate the blood flow. Anyways, I agree on what you said about sex, pregnancy, and global warming. It’s true that everytime that we use a car to go to school/work or litter, we can cause a little bit of global warming. Anyways, I have to go now. Bye and keep up the good work!
Ann Nee.
